With spring soon approaching... I was thinking, what was one essential piece I would need for this spring. As I was looking on YouTube, This video "Free People Presents: Little White Tee" popped up on the side bar. I clicked it and realized, yes! That was the answer to my question. The Perfect White Tee is what full-fills any closet. I was inspired from this video and made some collaborations of my own. Maybe one of the sets fits you?! Check em' out! After this treacherous winter I had in my home town, I know we all want to see some sun and grass. Well, one thing I loved about winter was the layering and leather. This winter I was obsessed with my leather pants. Leather pants, leather shirts, leather jackets, and even leather shoes. I was in love with wearing leather from head to toe. As warm weather is (hopefully) soon approaching... I am looking forward to the lightful layering. Lets see what this summer has in store for us with the up coming trends! Photo of me by: ErinMohrPhotography Here are some pictures of what I see coming into this summers trendy-list. Lately I've been seeing lots or denim -ombre, red toned, and short hair styles - bare backs - strappy tops - turquoise jewelry - kimonos - rompers galore - knit wear - cluthes - lace - crazy patterns - and so much more! Keep up with more trend alerts. (I do not own any of these pictures) Here is a sneak peak to some of my creations. So incredibly excited for my first fashion show at The Frank Juarez Gallery. The focus of the collection is for the new up coming trends of what I envision for this spring. We are talking feathers, bright colors, gems and jewels, delicate lace, white out, and gold goddess. I've been putting a lot of work into this. So many details and so little time. Cannot wait to see the final product!
Cheers to the spring trends upon us! This past weekend I attended my first fashion show with some gals. It was an incredible experience I will never forget! Everyone gathered for cocktails before and enjoyed watching Miranda Kay Levy's #ReturnToTheRunway. This was Miranda's first time back at it in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from being on Season 12 of Project Runway. Her collection was marvelous. I loved the experience and the atmosphere. I cannot wait to attend another wonderful show. I was looking back at old photos of my first pieces I finished a couple years ago. When I came across the first dress I made, I was looking in my closet and yes, I still had it! After three years. Then still pondering in my closet I came across a pair of patch work jeans. I also found some unfinished pieces with my fabrics. I was really excited to still have these wonderful first projects I made. The first dress I ever made was inspired from the Free People Lace Skater Dress With Daisy Trim. At the moment, I didn't want to pay that amount for the dress. I kept going onto the website and pondering at the dress to see if it would ever go on sale. Recently, after that, I was looking in my closet and I found a really old-fashion looking dress that I never wore. It had sleeves and a boxed neck line. The dress didn't fit me right and looked so awkward ( I was surprised I bought it in the first place). I took the dress apart, completely. I changed the neck to be a high scoop neckline and I took the back into a low V shape. I really liked the revealing waistline from the Free People dress I was inspired by to change the original dress I had. I made the top and bottom of the dress separately and added the lace over the fabric to match the different sets together into a dress. The revealing lace trim on the waist was connecting both the top and skirt. I was surprised on how it wasn't to difficult to pursue. I really enjoyed this being my first project. I love the dress! And I didn't even pay a fourth of the price. I made it my own and no one else will have the exact same dress as me. The fabric is a beautiful small daisy lace-like pattern. The waist line is stretchable with the skater dress effect. This was one of my favorite pieces. Looking at more revamped pieces I aspired to finish... I did some patch work on a pair of jeans. I had an old, ripped up pair of jeans that were so ripped up it wasn't appropriate to wear in public. I didn't want to get rid of them because some of the rips on the jeans were so big and perfectly ripped I just needed to figure a way I could change them to be able to wear. I came across a recent trend I found out about, patch work. I've been coming across images of different jeans with patch work on them. I was thinking, I didn't want to have a pattern on the jeans because with the type of denim it was it wouldn't fit together. I was looking at the old scrap pieces of fabric I had and I found some old denim. I decided that would fit best with the ripped jeans. Multiple shades of denim patch-work. I really loved how it turned out and now I didn't waste a lovely pair of ripped jeans! Pondering at more old works of mine... I came across a daisy crop top I made last year. The fabric was very difficult to sew with, but I managed. I bought the fabric at a local thrift store. It's a very vintage looking pattern. It was an easy idea, a crop top. but, since the fabric was almost like a stretchy velvet material I had to mostly hand sew the bottom part of the shirt. I wear the shirt in summer and it's a nice easy going top.
On January 3rd I was a part of an amazing project! A lovely duo of gals that I went to High School with put on a fashion show. I was an extra help back stage with make up, hair, and helping the models collaborate their outfits to get ready to walk down. It was an amazing experience. I loved being a part of this wonderful production. The concept was more visual then focusing on their clothing pieces. The models all wore white outfits from head to toe. Big black construction paper was hung up on the sides of the runway with a tarp on the floor. They back stage help was hiding behind the construction paper with the paint in their hands. Each person having about twenty cups filled with paint, pouring a cup over the construction paper each time a model would walk past them. As more and more models kept walking down, the runway got slippery. This was something I will never forget! Check out the video below! I got to meet an amazing inspiration of a fashion designer, Miranda K Levy. She was a contestant on Season 12 of Project Runway. She is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and continues her dream and passion for fashion. I talked to her about tips and tricks on schooling and little things to recollect about the fashion industry. It was an amazing experience to meet her. She was so lovely, helping get into depth about what to know. I learned so much from this first time fashion show. It's an exciting first beginning to my passion and helped me inspire more to learn! The Blank Canvas I am so thankful for all these wonderful opportunities I have up bringing on this New Year! I am starting to push myself to be a part of many wonderful projects. A week before the New Year I was part of "The Blank Canvas". It was more of a visual, thoughts project. My friends, Paul Theodoroff and Cavan Faucett asked me to be a part of a film they aspired to create. Paul Theodoroff is a cinematographer and Cavan Faucett was the co-director. I was so excited to be a part of this production because it sounded amazing and so fun to accomplish. The space where we shot the film was on the 3rd floor of a huge warehouse. It was very vintage and rustic looking. First of all, I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie or something. It was so cool to just walk around in. The film resembles the new beginning 2014 has to offer. The concept is magnificent and I give props to this wonderful short film. Cheers to the New Year - Looking forward for what it all has to offer. Unfortunately the actual video was taken off of Paul's page... But here is a behind the scenes look at 'The Blank Canvas' On April 11th, my lovely friend Erica Barringer and I are collaborating together to have our own fashion show. I am so excited to actually start my passion and creativity to the next level. We are currently working on some new pieces. We went shopping at local thrift stores to find some beautiful vintage fabrics. We found many wonderful details and embroideries (very wedding esk). Our first ever fashion show is going to be "The new Trends for Spring". There will be eight girls and seven guys. It's a very bohemian, vintage, classic, inspiration of clothing. I am so excited to show more what I have in store! April can't come soon enough! I started some pre sketches and then found beautiful fabrics to go along with what I was envisioning. I plan to have the set up (runway show) at The Frank Juarez Gallery. I am so thankful for this internship (assistant) job I got offered from him. Allowing me to use his gallery for my designs. This is such an exciting new start to the New Year. Yesterday I embarked on a wonderful Journey to Milwaukee with my head chief Frank Juarez. He is a local artist in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, taking on many ambitious ideas. I went a long with him to Milwaukee to help out and take notes to learn some new skills for my own terms. I am giving him my time to help him stay organized and find efficient people for his next project. His new outrageous idea is called 365 Artists 365 days. This project focuses on having a new artist (which will be local, national, and international) everyday, out of the whole new year. It's a risky idea, but he's had many contestants who are whiling to be part of the ride! I am excited to be apart of this amazing journey to further my ideas and help me learn more in the 'art world'. |
